That’s a really clean Cavalier. I dont think they were even sold that clean.

They weren’t as bad as one would think if equipped well.
My Ex had a 2002 LS with the Ecotec and Getrag 5 speed. She was pretty consistent in the 15.3-15.4 range at the strip.

I don’t hate the Cavalier, and it was in way better shape than most of the newer Mustangs there.

It’s OK to hate. The J body forums kinda made me hate them.

Hey, I’m impressed someone actually cared about a Cavalier. Because nobody cared for Cavaliers. I’m not hating, one of my friend’s family has a pristine Beretta Z26.

I like the J-body. Stupid cheap, simple, easy to maintain and work on, cheap parts, etc. No, they were not well built or refined or anything. But they’re cockroaches and will outlive the apocalypse. I see unbelievably ratted out ones on a daily basis still chugging along.

It’s a roughly 20 year old “performance” car. I remember going to the Fridayy night car shows when I was a kid and seeing roughly 20 year old performance cars aka SS Chevelles and SuperBees and GTOs and Mustangs. To put things in perspective, my daily driver 1992 Grand Marquis is as old as the 1970 Chevelles I loved in the mid 90s. These Z24s were the first cars or realistic dream cars of people now in their mid to late 30s. Before you know it, 90s performance cars will be looked back on with as much nostalgia as people did the muscle era cars. Buy them while they’re cheap.

I wouldn’t consider it a performance car though. A sporty economy car, yes. 90's performance cars are increasing in value. 3000GTs, NSXs, and Supras already have, but waiting on these might never pan out, especially in the “Tesla autonomous future”.

Thus the quotation marks. It is still the performance variant of a Cavalier though. It will never be a big money car, but I could see them being desirable in a weird way.

Exactly. Regular Cavaliers will bottom out and stay there. I imagine nice examples of the Z24 going up after a while.
